Since Jordan has not yet joined the Apostille Convention, the following rules apply for legalisation.
Documents issued by Jordaninan authorities and to be used in Hungary should be legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan first. Following the legalisation at the Ministry, the Consular Section of the Embassy of Hungary carries out the diplomatic legalisation of the document.
Documents issued by Hungarian authorities are legalised by the Department of Consular Affairs and Citizenship, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary. Following the legalisation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the documents shall be further legalised by the accredited mission of the target country in Hungary - in case of Jordan: either at the Honorary Consulate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Budapest, or at the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Vienna.
